LOVE ME TWO TIMES

silkscreen printThis week I have been printing cards for the Etsy Christmas pop-up in Sydney. It was also a friend's first wedding anniversary recently and as the traditional gift for a first anniversary is paper, I decided to use one of the designs from my cards and alter it to make print that could be framed. The print is of two geometric hearts printed in copper and is part of a limited edition of 10 prints. I have listed the rest of the prints in my Etsy store if you would like one for yourself or somebody special. Happy Friday everyone :)

A CHARMING EXHIBITION

Thursday evening was the official opening of The Charming Collective annual show. Print makers and art lovers came together to celebrate printmaking and view work by Nic Bailey, Simon Clarke, Rebecca Geddes, Laura Giamo, Jessica Hodgkinson, Ian Kingsford Smith, Gabrielle Mordy, Sam Newton, David Quoy, Marnie Ross, Anna Russell, Cam Scott and myself. The Charming Collective would like to thank Art Est. Art School and Gallery for their support. Rebecca Geddes and Mahani Del Borrello would like to acknowledge ARC @ UNSW for their support via an Art and Design Grant.

CHARMING PRINTS ON DISPLAY

CC_digital_flyer I've been a.w.o.l. again... sorry! For most of this semester I have been feeling like I've hardly had time to breathe, let alone blog! But I am finally catching up, woohoo! One of the many things that has kept me so occupied lately is The Charming Collective, a group of super friendly, Sydney printmakers. To celebrate another year of printmaking, the Collective are holding an exhibition. The show opens this Friday at Art Est. in Leichardt and runs for just over two weeks. A few of the members are holding monotype and drypoint workshops on the weekend so if you are interested in printmaking check it out. Opening night is the 21st of November, so come see some art and say hi, we would love to see you there :)

THE DRIVE HOME

ShowMeTheWay-1Earlier this year I signed up for the Print Exchange 2013.

500 printmakers from around the world were asked to interpret the theme "The Drive Home" and produce an edition of 12, 5"x7" prints using any method of printmaking. Two of the prints will be kept for exhibition and archive purposes while the remaining ten will be distributed amongst various participants. The Art House Co-op have begun sorting through the thousands of prints arriving in the mail and they look amazing.

Here is a peek at my submission. It started out as a linocut but I decided that it looked better embossed onto the paper.

I can't wait to receive my bundle of ten prints in return. I wonder which artists and continents they will come from?

I didn't get around to posting many of the prints I made last year. University is about to start again and I have been sorting through my work, trying to get organised and energised for a new semester. This series was inspired by the way people market themselves and curate their lives for social media. If you have a QR reader on your phone you will be able to scan the code and see the final image. Or you can click here.

I like social media but at the same time it drives me a little crazy. How does it make you feel?
