ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEXT 100 DAYS?

100 Days Project. © Mahani Del Borrello 2017. Thousands of hours of fun, frustration and hard work were celebrated on the weekend, as creatives from all walks of life came together to show their 100 Day Projects in Auckland.

From photography to typography; felt to food art; digital art to dolly pegs; pop-ups to plastic; and about every kind of pen, pencil and paintbrush you can imagine—this exhibition had it all! The one thing they had in common was the commitment to create one thing every day for 100 days. The range of projects, level of skill and dedication on display was astounding. And while this short but sweet show may be over, there isn't much time to relax, registrations for the 2017 100 Days Project have opened! So if you like the sound of this project, it's time to sign up and start planning. Remember, one thing, every day, x100.

Good luck!

DAY 100 SHOW

The Day 100 Show is almost here!

Some of you have been following my journey on the 100 Days Project. Well now is your chance to see what over one hundred other 100 Dayers got up to, at a pop-up exhibition in Auckland!

The Day 100 Show is a pop-up exhibition celebrating this most excellent (albeit ruthless) creative marathon of sorts. Late last year over 1,400 people from all over the world embarked on the project, committing themselves to complete one creative 'thing' a day for a hundred days without break. The results were often wonderful, strange and delightful. No two 'hundred days' are alike.

MYVILLE

Illustrated map of inner west Sydney. It is almost 6 months since my husband and I left our little home in Sydney, for a new adventure in Auckland, New Zealand.

A couple of weeks ago I went back to Sydney to be part of an exhibition that explored Sydney's Inner West and it's inhabitants. I am quite enjoying life in Auckland but I do miss my old neighbourhood and everything it had to offer, so I drew this map as an ode to all of my favourite places, in and around Marrickville. I have since realised that my Sydney life pretty much revolved around eating and drinking—cafès, pubs and restaurants seem to dominate the landscape!

I really enjoyed working on this and am now planning a series of maps. Maybe Auckland next? It will be a good excuse for me to get out from behind my desk and explore more.

Oh! And I want to give a quick shout out to Endemic World who helped with the printing and transportation of my map. Not only do they offer fine art printing, they also stock a great range of contemporary, limited edition prints by New Zealand and international artists.

A CHARMING EXHIBITION

Thursday evening was the official opening of The Charming Collective annual show. Print makers and art lovers came together to celebrate printmaking and view work by Nic Bailey, Simon Clarke, Rebecca Geddes, Laura Giamo, Jessica Hodgkinson, Ian Kingsford Smith, Gabrielle Mordy, Sam Newton, David Quoy, Marnie Ross, Anna Russell, Cam Scott and myself. The Charming Collective would like to thank Art Est. Art School and Gallery for their support. Rebecca Geddes and Mahani Del Borrello would like to acknowledge ARC @ UNSW for their support via an Art and Design Grant.

CHARMING PRINTS ON DISPLAY

CC_digital_flyer I've been a.w.o.l. again... sorry! For most of this semester I have been feeling like I've hardly had time to breathe, let alone blog! But I am finally catching up, woohoo! One of the many things that has kept me so occupied lately is The Charming Collective, a group of super friendly, Sydney printmakers. To celebrate another year of printmaking, the Collective are holding an exhibition. The show opens this Friday at Art Est. in Leichardt and runs for just over two weeks. A few of the members are holding monotype and drypoint workshops on the weekend so if you are interested in printmaking check it out. Opening night is the 21st of November, so come see some art and say hi, we would love to see you there :)
